Guisborough LFC 1 MFC Ladies 12

BORO advanced to the final of the North Riding Ladies Cup with a comprehensive win over neighbours Guisborough LFC.

Marrie Wieczorek's team were just far too strong for their opponents, who tried valiantly to hold their own.

Although Boro missed chance after chance, Guisborough had four first-half chances themselves, with keeper Ami Bullen saving each one superbly.

However, the visitors soon cruised into top gear and goals from Sarah Manning, Becky Hanratty, Steph Turnbull and two from the prolific Nicky Duckling gave them a comfortable 5-0 lead at the break.

The second half yielded seven more goals for Boro, with three more from Steph Turnbull and Beth McGhee, Nicky Duckling, Abbey Lyle and Kate Foster all scoring.

Boro now meet York City in the final next month.

They return to league action this coming Sunday, with a home game at Hurworth against tough opponents, Salford LFC. Kick-off is 2pm.
