FOLLOWING the Boro home and away by land, sea or air is no trouble for Roy Chatto - even though he's "well into his 70s" and lives in faraway Bedfordshire, writes RICHARD HINMAN.

Every other weekend Roy, the latest fan to be nominated for our Supporter of the Season award, ventures almost 250 miles north from his home in Easton Bray to see the Boro in action.

Middlesbrough-born Roy, who served in the RAF, is a long time season card holder and friends say he is a also a great ambassador for the club.

He never misses a match, even seeking out obscure corners of the continent during Boro's European adventures.

"Roy is a fanatic," said Roy's friend, Trevor Walker. "He went to all UEFA Cup matches, home and away.

"He travels up from the south for all home games including night matches and he also never misses an away game.

"As well as being a true travelling fan, Roy is a great ambassador for the Boro and he is much loved by all his mates and fellow football fans who he comes into contact with."

Over the course of the next few weeks we will be profiling other Boro 'Superfans'.

If you can think of anyone who should be in with a shout, send along your nomination to media@mfc.co.uk.
