GIANT keeper Carlo joined Boro for an undisclosed fee as a replacement for Welsh international Mark Crossley in 2003.

Standing at 6ft 5ins tall, Bolton-born Carlo began his league career with Crystal Palace but really made his name with Stockport County.

Was loaned out to Wolverhampton Wanderers in December 2000 as back-up to Michael Oakes, but Manchester City signed him for £100,000 to provide competition for Nicky Weaver.

Nash did enough to force Weaver out of the team but was back in the Reserves when Danish legend Peter Schmeichel arrived at Maine Road in 2002.
On Schmeichel's retirement, England keeper David Seaman was signed for the club's first season at the City of Manchester Stadium and Carlo's days were numbered.
 
Kept a clean sheet in his only Premiership appearance of the 2003-04 season in a 2-0 win at Aston Villa, but his campaign ended prematurely when he suffered a troublesome finger injury.
