Midfielder on the Charlton trip...

Adam Forshaw says Sunday’s game against Charlton is a chance for Boro to put in a strong performance and move on from defeat to Rotherham on Tuesday.

Charlton have won just one of their last seven, though, compared to the Millers whose victory over Aitor Karanka’s side was their third in a row.

But the midfielder says Boro will be cautious of a Charlton side that will also be up for the fight to stay in the Championship this weekend.

“Hopefully we can move on now and get a really good performance in on Sunday,” said Forshaw.

“It’s another team down the bottom end of the division so we’re looking ahead to that. Then next Friday against Hull we’ve got the chance to put it right.

“They’re all tough games for different reasons, the manager said that before the Rotherham game – they were fighting for their lives and so are Charlton.

“Charlton are a different team and probably play in a slightly different way that Rotherham do, but there are going to be certain areas that we have to be careful and aware of if we want to come away with the three points.”

Over 2,600 Boro supporters travelled to Rotherham in midweek and Forshaw says the fans’ backing will be crucial for the team at the Valley on Sunday.

“We’re a close-knit team and we have a great group here,” he said.

“Everyone involved is wanting one thing and that’s promotion so if we can go to London as a team and put in a good performance then there will be a few cracks in Charlton.

“We need the fans and they need us. They’ve been fantastic and the support the other night at Rotherham was terrific.

“They will rightly be disappointed if we don’t win games but it’s through no lack of trying. We’re working our hardest to get to where we want to be and we’re looking to put that right on Sunday.”
