Adam Clayton is calling on Boro to draw on the spirit they showed at Molineux earlier this season when Wolves arrive at the Riverside on Friday.
Wolves just missed out on a play-off spot last season, finishing in seventh, but their fortunes have been different this campaign and are currently placed 13th in the table.
“Last season Wolves were a very good team,” said Clayton. “I think when we played them at Molineux it was a big result for us – we were going through a difficult period at the time.
“We went 1-0 down and came back to win, so if we can get the team spirit that we had that day and the desire for the points then I think we’ll do all right.”
Championship top spot could be up for grabs on Friday night, depending on Hull’s result when they take on Birmingham at St Andrew’s on Thursday.
“We can’t be doing that badly, it’s a chance to go top as it was on Tuesday,” said the midfielder.
“If we get that win all of sudden the cloud goes away. All of the fans are happy again, the press are happy again.
“We’re just focussed on three points and if we can get them the sunshine’s out again.
“You’ve got to remember it’s a long season. You’re going to win games and you’re going to lose them.
“We’re in a better position than we were last season so we’ve just got to keep going.
“We’re third in the league and level on points with second. We’re there and right in the mix.
“So we’ve got to keep our heads and keep performing and keep going.”
