Ben Gibson has been named Boro’s Player of 2016 by the Middlesbrough Disabled Supporters Association.
The defender collected his award at the annual MDSA dinner on Tuesday evening.
A delighted Gibson said: “I’d like to thank the members of MDSA for the award and while it’s nice personally, it’s all about the team, and 2016 was a terrific year for us.
“We achieved our aim of winning promotion and we picked up some big results in the Premier League. Our aim is to carry that on this year and continue things.”
Gibson was joined on the awards list by fellow defender Dael Fry, who was named the Young Player of the Year for 2016.
The event was attended by the first team management and the entire playing squad, who signed autographs and had photos with the fans in attendance on the night.
Gibson added: “Events like this are great and it gives us an opportunity to meet people and say thank you for such terrific support.”
