Can you describe how you felt when you scored the winning goal against Steaua last season?
Kevin O' Neill, Ireland's biggest Boro fan

MM: It was very good, I was very happy because all my year I had been on the bench and I was frustrated with that. When we scored a goal like that, that was very important for the people here and afterwards you saw the people go crazy. It was a very special feeling.

Was the UEFA Cup quarter and semi-final second leg the highlight of your career?
Keith, Eston

What has been the highlight of your whole career so far?
Adam Hudson, Sedgefield

MM: I feel it was my best moment in Middlesbrough. For my career, it was when I played for the national team for the first time.

Which striker do you feel you link up the best with at Boro, including strikers who have left the club?
Kevin Jeffries

MM: We've had many, Alen Boskic was a great player. When he wanted to play he was very good. And still now Yak is very good, and Dukes and Jimmy.

You gave this club belief last season, you made the rest of the world sit up and recognise not only Middlesbrough Football Club but also Massimo Maccarone. How does it feel to be the new fans' favourite?
Gavin White, Norton and Preston

You seem to have had quite a lot of criticism the season before last and before you became a supersub. How did it feel to become a true legend with your amazing performances?
Alex, Stockton

MM: It's good because I like it when you come off the bench and everybody starts to shout your name. They help you on the pitch and give me more energy for playing hard because for me it's a difficult moment here and I like it when people come up and speak to me and ask me why I'm not playing. The fans were the same with me before but then it was 1,000, now it's 100,000!

What was behind the decision to change your squad number from 18 to 23?
Dan, Lincoln

MM: When I first came here I had number nine and I don't know why McClaren changed it. He gave me 18 and I wanted to change it.

I would like to know which club you supported when you were growing up and which clubs you follow now? Good luck with the rest of the season
Rich, Plymouth

MM: I supported Napoli when I was growing up, although I never went to see them.

You are without doubt one of Boro's most popular players, but what is it that attracted you to Middlesbrough?
Lewis, Northumberland

MM: The truth is because when I was in Italy I had many clubs that wanted me and maybe five clubs in England as well but I said no because I wanted to play in Italy. But later it was difficult for me to stay in Italy and I came here to try for three days to see the club and country. The first time I saw the training ground and stadium ? I'd always seen English football on TV and it was nice and I made the decision. It was difficult for me because I didn't speak English but I just came here to play football.

After Szilard Nemeth and Juninho left the club I was wondering who your best friends at the club are? Also did you hear about Nemeth's health scare, were you worried for him?
Dale, North Stand season ticket holder

MM: My best friend for the moment is Abel Xavier, because we have a good rapport. We live together and always stay together. We think the same way. About Szilard, yes, I didn't know straight away because nobody said but when I heard his voice I was happy. I'm very disappointed for him because he's unlucky to be out of football for six months.

You're one of my favourite players and I have stuck up for you whilst you weren't your best a few seasons ago and went on loan. Now you have proved that I was right to stick up for you. How do you think your season is going and where do you think we'll finish this year?
Alix, Hartburn, proud South Stand season ticket holder

MM: My season? I don't know because I never play! I don't know what I have to do. Where we finish, it's difficult to say because we have lots of games to play. We have to keep it going and start to win two or three games. If we do that we can finish in the top ten.

Would you say your game has developed or been hindered during your time at Middlesbrough?
Neil Simpson, Northampton

MM: I think I've learned to be aggressive because it's different in Italy. In the last two years I've tried to change my football and I think it's good because I was determined to improve. Maybe before I was a little bit scared but now I don't care. I have a friend here named Slim who is helping me with that.

What sort of music do you like to wind down with after a match?
Robert Thorpe, Pickering

MM: In the dressing room we listen to hip hop and R 'n' B and things like that. It's good music because it's happy music. I like Italian music as well.

Do you have any pictures of when you had hair that you could put on the website? I am intrigued to know what you would like with it.
Sophie, Somerset

MM: I used to have one in my passport but I lost that one so now I have a different picture. I was 20 when I shaved my hair.

Who do you chill out with and do you miss Bolo Zenden, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Juninho?
Mohammad Ibrar

MM: I miss Bolo and Frank and I miss Szil as well. I had a great rapport with them, we went out to eat together and in the dressing room as well we were together but in football you have to accept that because you change teams and change country. But I saw Frank in the summer and that was good.

If you could get a regular starting place at the Riverside do you think you could get back in to the Italian national team?
Iwan Evans, North Wales

MM: Yes, why not? When I came here I played for the first four months and after that I never played again and I was in the national team when I came here.

Your goals for Boro in the QF and SF of the UEFA Cup last season will always live in the memory Massimo. I was so pleased that you scored the goals because you haven't had it easy at Boro for some reason. Why is that do you think?
Jeremy Newbegin

When you first came to Boro you started off so well, getting goals against Fulham, Sunderland and Tottenham so quickly into your Boro career, why did the goals dry up?
Nick Hill

MM: I didn't change anything, just the club didn't give me the second chance. Nothing changed in my life. I played for the first months and after that I didn't play. One year I got injured and came back and played for one month, then after that went on loan and came back last season. I think after the first year nobody gave me a second chance to play ten games in a row. After one game they change me.

How bad does it feel to always be on the bench?
Thomas Greenfield

Ciao Massimo. Firstly, I have been a Boro fan for nearly 30 years now and you have been one of the selected few who I can call a cult hero. Yet week in week out you find yourself on the bench - do you feel that this is limiting your personal development as a player or do you manage to remain philosophical about it? Please stay at the club - your time must come.
Keith Marley

How do you feel about not getting a decent run in the side?
Tom, Linthorpe

I will always remember your goals in those spectacular UEFA Cup comebacks last year and I wish you the very best for the future, whatever it may hold. I'm sure there's a little part of Teesside that will stay with you forever and although sadly we didn't take home the UEFA Cup, we silenced a few critics along the way.  I know it must be hard when you're not getting regular first team action, but how do you stay sharp and focused during spells on the bench?
Scott Seedell, Cornish Boro fan

MM: It's very difficult to sit on the bench but I've learned that you have to keep going and that I have to be ready when I have the chance. The reason why I'm always ready when I go on the pitch is for the fans. Because I know they love me and when I go onto the pitch I go just for the fans and for the other players of course.

I would like to know why you play extremely well when you come off the substitutes' bench but when you start a game you don't maintain those standards you set?
Jake Andrews, 14, Coventry

Do you enjoy the role of supersub? You seem to revel in coming on the pitch with 30 minutes left and turning games on their head.
Robert Charlton

You have a reputation as a supersub at the Riverside, because your best performances always seem to come when you come off the bench. Do you have any idea why you can't seem to recapture that form when you play from the start?
Hazel Clay, Stockton-on-Tees

Massimo Maccarone - Photo by Empics

MM: The reason is because I'm not getting the fitness because if I play one game in ten it's difficult to have the same fitness. That's why my fitness is not good when I play. You need confidence on the pitch. Last year I started five or six games. This year I've started one. That's the reason!

Would you be happy to stay on at Boro with a contract extension being a supersub?
Lee, Acklam

You must be very frustrated not to start in games this season. Will you accept an extended contact if available or would you leave the club? Please answer in the positive as we love you very much and wish you to stay.
Ron Serge, Canada

I am wondering if you want to stay here after not so many games since you came?
Richard, Linthorpe

Since your arrival, every time you get a start or start from the bench, you always give 110%. Are you going to stay and fight for your deserved place in the first team?
Colin

Have you ever considered leaving Middlesbrough FC when you're not selected for the first team?
D Twigg, Redcar

What is it like to be the in form striker by far, the fans' favourite by far by showing guts and commitment and love of the club and to find yourself always on the sidelines? Will it force you to leave? The fans want you to stay.
Tony Archer

Do you have any intentions of leaving Boro?
J Crowe

Hiya Massimo! You're my favourite player. I think you deserve more time on the pitch. How long are you planning on staying at Middlesbrough?
Katie, Linthorpe Middlesbrough

MM: Whatever my decision will be, if I sign or not, I want to say I will never forget the fans because they give me a lot of power and energy for the football and for my life because I never experienced these great things in the past from other clubs. They are the best fans forever for me and I love them.
