All Stars Parade As Bears Target Glory
BORO'S victorious All Stars team will be the guests of honour as Redcar Bears Speedway Club look to add to one great success with a first ever trophy of their own on Thursday.
The All Stars, who included Bears' skipper Gary Havelock, won £100,000 for Teesside Hospice and the Butterwick Hospice when they won a tournament staged by Sky TV as part of the Creating Chances project.
Havelock and team-mates including Bernie Slaven, Jim Platt and Craig Hignett will parade their trophy during the interval of the Jack Young Shield final first leg at South Tees Motorsport Park.
Speedway was only resurrected on Teesside in April 2006 with the formation of the Redcar Bears and reaching a national final so soon is a major achievement.
They face the Birmingham Brummies in the biggest home match in their short life and victory is essential before the second leg at the Perry Barr Stadium in Birmingham on Sunday evening.

With the Tyne Tees Trophy second leg being staged at the Motorsportpark on Monday evening, the Bears will want to return home in triumph with the prospect of two trophies in 24 hours.
The match begins at 7.30pm. Admission is £12 for adults, concessions £8, children five-to-16 £2 and children under five free. Matchday programme is £2 and parking is free.
