Micky Fenton stands fifth in the Boro all-time goal scorers list despite the outbreak of the Second World War.

Replacing our all-time leading goal scorer George Camsell as the club's leading marksman, Fenton netted 162 times in 269 games during a career which spanned 17 years.

His goal-scoring form earned him his solitary cap for England against Scotland in 1938.

After returning to Boro after the war, Fenton topped the goal-scoring charts for Boro for three seasons despite being into his 30s.

A one-club man, Fenton decided to see out his playing days on Teesside despite Everton wanting his services, taking up a role in the backroom team after hanging up his boots.
