Alan Fettis joined Chris Wilder's staff as goalkeeping coach in June 2022. 

Fettis, capped at all levels by his country, has a wealth of experience having made almost 500 appearances during a playing career which took in the likes of Hull City, Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers, and York City.

He had spells coaching at both Cheltenham Town and Sunderland before Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson – and one-time Boro goalkeeper coach Eric Steele – offered him the chance to join the Old Trafford club.

He has worked at various at Manchester United where he helped develop the likes of Dean Henderson and Sam Johnstone as well as several other talented youngsters. He also worked with first-teamers such as David de Gea, Edwin van der Sar and Victor Valdes on occasion.
