Capturing football culture across the UK, Stuart Roy Clarke’s photographs place fans and grounds at the heart of the story of football.
Stuart Roy Clarke has been documenting football through the camera lens for over three decades. His ‘Homes of Football’ project exhibition has toured numerous galleries and museums throughout the UK, including Middlesbrough Art Gallery.
In Art of Ayresome, the photographer’s work documents the ground in 1991 and 1995. The early photographs showcase what made Ayresome Park, including ‘The Big Curved Red Shed’ and the iconic Ayresome Park gates as fans gathering outside. His images from the final season at the stadium capture the excitement at Bryan Robson’s arrival and the ‘Last Match Seen From the Corner’.
