The 1960/61 season saw Darlington reach Round 2 of the FA Cup where they were paired with Hull City in a game to be played at Feethams.
The game was drawn, with the replay at Boothferry Park also finished 1-1. The same score-line beset the second replay at Elland Road, home of Leeds United.
The third replay was played Doncaster Rovers Belle Vue Ground and again the two sides couldn’t be separated after a goalless draw.
Ayresome Park was chosen as the venue for the 4th replay and City finally progressed after 510 minutes of football in front of a healthy crowd of 19,366.
