Boro grabbed bragging rights after a 2-0 victory, Brian Clough and Arthur Fitzsimons both getting on the scoresheet.

Newcastle United were the next visitors the following week and again travelled back north having been on the end of a defeat. Fitzsimons again scored, with Alan Peacock and Derek McLean also scoring in a comprehensive 3-0 win.

Finally the run came to an end after the third game, played in November 1957 saw German opposition visit Teesside in the form of FC Cologne. A bumper crowd of nearly 32,000 saw Boro slip to a 2-1 defeat with a Clough grabbing the home sides goal.
