After a management career that has taken him to Panama and Switzerland, Neil joined the club in in 2007 as Chief Operating Officer.
He was made Chief Executive in March 2012 after nine months doing the job on an interim basis. Neil had previously worked with chemical companies such as ICI and more recently Syngenta, and brought a wealth of experience to the club.
Neil, who is predominantly based at Rockliffe Park, is accountable for the day-to-day running of Middlesbrough Football Club and works very closely with chairman Steve Gibson across all aspects of the business, including the football and recruitment side.
He says: "In Steve Gibson we have a solid Chairman, who is a lifelong supporter and steadfastly believes in MFC, the fans and the area. As the Chairman has frequently said, this football club exists for the supporters.
"We know we need to ensure this traditional bond is maintained and enhanced, while at the same time developing a successful club that people in our area can be proud of."
