Alex Baptiste became Boro's first signing of the summer when the defender made a permanent switch from Bolton Wanderers. 

In light of the move, here are 10 facts to familiarise yourself with the latest addition to Aitor Karanka's squad -

1.    Baptiste was born in Nottinghamshire and began his professional career with Mansfield Town.
2.    He made his debut for the Stags as a 17-year-old against Barnsley in April 2003.
3.    He started his career in centre midfield but moved back to defence and is able to play anywhere across the back four.
4.    Baptiste moved from Mansfield to Blackpool in 2008 but was not named in the first team squad in the initial months of his time at Bloomfield Road.
5.    He made his first team debut for Blackpool in November 2008 against Wolves at Molineux at right-back.
6.    Baptiste was promoted to the Premier League with the Seasiders after winning the Play-Off Final at the end of the 2009/10 season.
7.    He scored on Blackpool's Premier League debut on the opening day of the 2010/11 season, in a 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.
8.    Baptiste joined Bolton Wanderers on a three-year deal in May 2013 and made his debut for the Trotters in a Lancashire derby with Burnley.
9.    The defender scored his first goal for Bolton in a 4-1 away defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
10.  Baptiste spent the majority of last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers , making 34 appearances and scoring three goals.
