Head of Academy Recruitment Martin Carter and Head Coach of our Under-18s Mark Tinkler were invited to overlook and support the NPL League 2 state club side who are based in New South Wales.

Hills have a Skills Acquisition programme which is similar to our foundation phase and run a youth development and professional development programme and produce around 50% of the youth international in the state.

They have a structured youth development programme designed to produce their own local players with a pathway to their senior side.

Leading the programme is a Technical Director Alex Tobin an ex Australian national team player, who leads the coaches and develops their learning plan.

“The President, Kazan Hadden is an ex-player, very focused and a self-made businessman who sees his club as a developing model,” explains Martin Carter.

“He was very impressed with our own Academy after his son trialled with us last season. He was eager to have myself and Mark deliver some CPD (continuing professional development) to support their club and staff progression.

“Mark coached the second grade and U18s, while I looked at all the youth sides from 9-20s and presented on our club’s Academy model on local players on a Q&A presentation night.

“We developed contacts and linked in with lots of driven and knowledgeable sports people and gained trust with our club’s philosophy and the way we look at players.

“Due to their developing model and professional structure in place, the club could potentially be a sleeping giant for the production of youth players with very little cost.

“The stats of international players coming from the location are encouraging and their Technical Director and club staff would recommend players to our club over other aspiring suitors.

“All in all it was a very worthwhile trip and we would like to thank Hills United for their hospitality and look forward to working with them in the future.”
