Ben Liddle's late penalty got Boro's Under-23s off to a winning start to the season on Friday night.
Graeme Lee's youngsters dominated against Aston Villa, and were rewarded with the injury time spot-kick, won by Isaiah Jones and converted coolly by Liddle.
The next day, Boro's U18s also profited from a late goal to claim a draw against north east neighbours Newcastle.
Mark Tinkler's side had led 2-0 thanks to a brace from Joe Gibson before the hosts struck back with two goals of their own. The Magpies netted again to lead going into stoppage time, before sub Calum Kavanagh scored for Boro to snatch a point.

Boro's U23s are at home again on Friday evening, hosting Stoke City at Heritage Park (kick-off 7pm). Our U18s have their first home game the following weekend, against Manchester City at Rockliffe Park (11am).
