Aitor Karanka has backed summer arrival Viktor Fischer to make a big impression on the Premier League this season.
Fischer scored his first goal in a Boro shirt at the weekend in the comeback win against Aston Villa, and Karanka is confident the Danish international will be a success on Teesside.
"Viktor was very good, especially in the second half [against Villa].
"In the first half he was a little bit lost, which is normal because he's only been with us a few weeks - it wasn't his best performance.
"But in the second half, when I explained his mistakes to him, he was much more involved in the game.
"He is a quality player who is going to bring us a lot."
Karanka is pleased to see Fischer settling in to life at Boro ahead of the Premier League kick-off next week.
"Viktor is young, but he's played in the Champions League and has experience.
"It's a new environment for him with new teammates so he has to keep going and keep improving.
"We are mixing players who two and a half years ago were fighting to stay in the Championship with players have played in the Champions League, and the spirit of the changing room is the same.
"It's easier for everyone when you arrive in a changing room like we have here.
"The main thing is to keep going together."
