Aitor Karanka firmly believes new signing Alvaro Negredo has joined the right club to re-discover his best form and make an impact on the Premier League this season.

The Valencia forward put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal with Boro in Marbella on Wednesday and was immediately training with his new team-mates.

Negredo scored 23 goals in 48 appearances for Manchester City during his last stint in England, a spell which prompted Valencia to pay in excess of £20m for his services two years ago.

"I'm delighted because he is a really good player and if he recovers his best he will be a really important player for us," said Karanka.

"Another reason I wanted to sign him is because he has played in this country and he knows the league

"I'm pleased and he's pleased because he wants to play his best and he knows that England and this club is the best place to recover his self."
