Aitor Karanka says that Boro must build from the second half performance against Tottenham Hotspur.

A double from South Korean forward Heung-Min Son gave visiting Spurs a 2-0 lead at the break.

Boro replied through Ben Gibson's header, but it was not enough to prevent the London team from taking all three points.

The Head Coach says that positives can be taken as Boro's fightback fell just short.

"We knew that we couldn't make the same mistakes we did last weekend against Everton," Karanka said.

"The first half was frustrating because this week we've been working really hard on the training ground.

"The second half was completely different and it's a good example of the team we want to be."

Boro's Head Coach says that his side must replicate the desire and drive shown in that second period.

"For us the second half was really good," he said.

"We have one week to decide if we want to be the team from the first half, or the team from the second.

"We are a team with spirit, that has been fighting for the last two-and-a-half years.

"If we play like the second half team we will win games."
