Aitor Karanka says the only pressure his players are putting themselves under is to maintain the high standards they have been setting so far this season.
Boro head for Bristol City on Saturday on the back of an unbeaten league run dating back to the start of November. Karanka's side haven't conceded a goal in nine games - and another shut-out on Saturday would see a new divisional record set.
"The pressure is to get promotion this season," said Karanka. "Everything else is good, but we want to win promotion. They want to win, they want to get promotion, and they are winners.
"It's amazing at the moment, especially after our December. That was a really difficult month with some tough games, but after our results everything was easier. We are in a really good position."
Having travelled to Brentford in midweek and had a hectic run of games during December, there has been little let-up for Karanka and his squad, and there has been plenty of hard work both on and off the field taking place in preparation for the games.
"We don't have a lot of time to work on the pitch so we work a lot with videos," said Karanka.
"With a video and changing something it can be easier, you have to mix it up. It's nice when you change one or two players and they perform in the same way.
"The video is important in the way we work, not just for the defenders but for everyone. When you don't have a lot of time on the pitch you have to work on other ways."
