Boro Head Coach Aitor Karanka was delighted to complete the signing of Patrick Bamford on loan from Chelsea until January 1.

The 20-year-old completed the formalities of his switch to Teesside on Friday afternoon to bring to an end weeks of speculation about whether or not the player would be joining Boro.

"Everyone knows that Patrick is a very good player with a bright future in the game," said a delighted Aitor.

"He scored a lot of goals during his previous loan spells and will be a good addition to our squad.

"I first enquired about trying to bring Patrick to Middlesbrough last December so I am delighted that everything has now been agreed.

"I'm looking forward to working with him."

Bamford follows Tottenham youngster Ryan Fredericks into the club this week, and they join a host of new recruits, including instant crowd favourite Kike and sought-after midfielder Adam Clayton.

The transfer window officially closes at 11pm on Monday evening, and the Head Coach is expecting more business to be done.

"We'll be working up until the last seconds," he said.
