Defender Ben Gibson has given Boro yet another big boost by becoming the latest player to pledge his future to the club.

The defender has signed a new five-year contract and joins Daniel Ayala and George Friend in penning new deals to commit their long-term futures.

Teessider Gibson, who started out playing junior football in Marton before joining the Boro Academy, has already clocked up over 100 appearances for the club, and he made his Premier League debut last weekend against Stoke City.

"I'm over the moon," said the 23-year-old. "I just want to make sure the next five years are in the Premier League with this club.

"It's a dream come true for me really and it's amazing for me and my family.

"It's an exciting time, and we're all looking forward to Sunday's game at Sunderland and hopefully picking up our first Premier League win."
