A new supporters club for Boro fans has been unveiled.
Boro Supporters’ Club 2020 is an independent supporters’ group formed to ensure that Boro fans have an organisation where they can come together to meet, celebrate their football club and enjoy a range of social events.
Membership of the Boro Supporters’ Club 2020 is open to all, whether a Season Card holder or not. The only requirement is that you are a Boro fan! It will offer access to a friendly community of Boro fans and has a social emphasis.
Meetings will be held monthly, at the Riverside Stadium, during the football season. Members will have the opportunity to chat about the Boro with fellow fans and have a drink from the bar or a tea or coffee.
Speakers, including players, ex-players, coaching and other Boro staff, journalists and football experts will attend as guests, and quizzes, memorabilia valuation nights, tours and trips will be organised.
Boro Supporters’ Club 2020 aims to bring the Football Club closer to the fans. It will hold an annual charity event to raise funds for Boro’s chosen charity and a Player of the Season award night.
It also supports and values the views of Boro fans and will be a member of the Middlesbrough Supporters Forum.
Jill Atkinson, Harry Greenmon, Owen Swift and Rosie Swift are the driving force behind the new organisation and prospective members are invited to the inaugural meeting on Monday January 13 from 6pm at the Riverside Stadium.
Membership runs form January to December and costs £6 for adults and £2 for Under 16s. Mini stadium tours will be available during the evening.
Jill Atkinson said: “It has been quite a while since Boro had an active and engaging supporters club and that is what we are aiming for.
“I hope that lots of fans will join us, the more the merrier and we can plan together some fantastic guests, events and activities to bring fans together and also to strengthen the bond with the club.”
