A draw on Sunday afternoon between Wimbledon and Charlton was enough to ensure a place in the last 16 of the Premier League Cup for Boro's U23s.

Fulham won the group a few weeks ago and a win for Charlton would have seen them through in second, but they were held 0-0 at Wimbledon and Boro retained second spot to set up a tie away to Reading.

Their campaign so far has brought defeat home and away to Fulham and away to Charlton as well as wins at home to Charlton and away and at home to Wimbledon.

Before thoughts turn to the cup tie, Paul Jenkins' side have an important Premier League 2 game against Blackburn to hurdle.

The game, at Hartlepool on Monday night, offers a quick chance to get back to winning ways following a 4-2 reverse in a dramatic game at Brighton a week last Friday.

Kick-off is 7pm and admission is free to Boro Season Card holders, £3 to everyone else.
