Britt Assombalonga will be Boro's captain for the coming season, Neil Warnock has confirmed.
Boro's number 9 wore the armband in pre-season and for our opening day victory against Shrewsbury Town in the Carabao Cup.
And the Boro boss Warnock says it's an arrangement that will stay in place as the season gets going.
"I just felt Britt has the experience, and since I've been at the club he's had the passion and desire," Warnock said.
"He's always talking to the younger players and organising.
"I did speak to Grant [Hall] and Jonny [Howson] to tell them my thoughts, but they've not got a problem either. Everyone here is delighted Britt has taken it on board.
"Hopefully he can have the best season he's had in a long while.
"He's been outstanding since I've arrived with Fletch. They are fantastic to work with, they are on board with what I want to do and they know if I slack off I'll tell them straight because they have to be our first line of defence.
"I've been pleased with every aspect."
