Calum Chambers says that he wants to make his mark at Boro this season following his loan switch from Arsenal.

The versatile defender joined Boro on a season-long loan deal which was finalised on the penultimate day of the summer transfer window.

Having represented England Under-21s earlier in the week, Wednesday saw Chambers link up with his new teammates for the first time.

"There's a buzz around the place and it's exciting to be here," the 21-year-old said.

"Middlesbrough is a great club, with great history.

"I'm a passionate player, enthusiastic, and positive on the pitch - I want to come here, play as many games as possible, and do as well as I can for myself and the club."

Chambers, who has made more than 30 appearances for Arsenal,080916 says that the move is a result of his desire for regular football.

"It was something that I had thought about towards the end of last season," he said.

"We gave it a lot of thought, but when Middlesbrough came up it was all quite quick.

"I'm excited to show everyone at Boro what I can do."

Chambers says that the words of Head Coach Aitor Karanka helped persuade him Teesside was the place to ply his trade this season.

"He told me I would enjoy the training, the style of play, and that it's a great bunch of lads," he said.

"I already know Gaston [Ramirez] from Southampton and [Ben] Gibson from England.

"He's a great manager and I'm looking forward to working under him."
