Middlesbrough Football Club was saddened to learn of the passing of Kevin Beattie aged 64 on Sunday morning.
A legend with Ipswich Town and England, Kevin made five appearances for the Boro in the 1982-83 season, scoring one goal and was only on the losing side once.
By then the classy defender had made well over 200 appearances for Ipswich and nine for England, keeping Willie Maddren out of the side.
His debut for Boro came in a 2-0 home win over Barnsley in November 1982, his final appearance came in the only time he tasted defeat in a Boro shirt when he came off the bench to replace Joe Bolton in a 3-2 loss at Derby.
His one goal came from the penalty spot in a 2-0 win over Notts County in an FA Cup 4th round tie at Ayresome in January 1983.
Middlesbrough Football Club sends sincere condolences to Kevin's family and friends.
