After signing his new contract at Boro, Ripley said: “I’m delighted to have signed an extended contract with my hometown club and very grateful to have the chance to play in the Championship with Burton.

“I hope to be able to step up from League One and the good season I had with Oldham and prove I can play at a higher level, which is what I’ve always wanted to do.

“I’d like to think I’ve learned quickly and will continue to develop at a good level with another good club this season.
