Darnell Fisher was delighted with the “baptism of fire” start to his Boro career.
Just 26 hours on from arriving at Rockliffe to sign for the club, the 26-year-old was thrust straight into the action for Boro at table-topping Norwich.
He was handed the task of stifling Canaries playmaker Todd Cantwell, and was named the Sky Sports Man of the Match from the 0-0 draw as Boro became the first team this season to deny Norwich a shot on target.
“It was a good start to my career here,” said Fisher.
“It was a tough game, but we knew it would be because Norwich are a good team with good players. We defended really well as a group.
“It was tough (man-marking Cantwell) because he's all over the place, and I ended up in a lot of different positions.
“I’d finished my medical on Friday and was told I was starting. It was a baptism of fire!"
