Defender Alex Baptiste has joined Preston North End on a season-long loan.

The 30-year-old heads across the Pennines to join up with his former Blackpool manager Simon Grayson at Deepdale.

Baptiste was signed by Boro in the summer of 2015, but after suffering a double fracture of the leg just 20 minutes into his first friendly appearance, he had to wait until last week's EFL Cup trip to Fulham before making his competitive debut for the club.

Baptiste, a Championship promotion winner with Blackpool who also had spells with Bolton and Blackburn before joining Boro, made 11 appearances on loan at Sheffield United last season.

Everyone at MFC wishes Alex a successful season at Preston.
