Danish international Martin Braithwaite has joined French side Bordeaux on loan until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.
The 26-year-old joined Boro during the summer from Toulouse, where he had been a huge hit in the French Ligue 1 throughout his four years at the club.
Braithwaite linked up with Garry Monk’s squad during the pre-season training camp in Portugal and since making his debut in the Championship opener at Wolves, he has clocked up 21 appearances and scored six goals.
The player’s most recent appearance came on Tuesday evening when he stepped off the bench for the closing stages of the 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
In joining Bordeaux, Braithwaite returns to a country where he scored 40 goals in 149 appearances for Toulouse. He will also be hoping the opportunity of regular football will increase his chances of featuring in Denmark’s World Cup squad in the summer.
