The Bosnian international completed his move late on Deadline Day evening, arriving on Teesside with an hour to spare before the transfer window closed.

The 25-year-old is an experienced international who joined Everton in 2014 from Hungarian side Ferencvaros.

The German-born Besic, who started his career with Hamburg before moving to Hungary, has made 56 appearances in three-and-a-half seasons on Merseyside after being signed by Roberto Martinez.

The defensive midfielder is the youngest player ever to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina, having made his debut at 18, and he represented his country in the 2014 World Cup, playing in all three group games.

Besic has clocked up almost 200 career appearances and he will bring further competition and experience to Tony Pulis’ squad.
