Versatile defender Martin Cranie has joined Boro to bolster Tony Pulis’ defensive options.
The experienced Cranie has made the switch from Huddersfield Town, subject to clearance, where he was a promotion winner last season.
The 31-year-old has made over 350 career appearances since making his Southampton debut in the Premier League in 2004. He had loan spells with Bournemouth, Yeovil, QPR, and Charlton as a young player, before joining Coventry on a permanent basis where he featured over 100 times.
Cranie also clocked up a century of appearances for Barnsley before moving across Yorkshire to Huddersfield, where he has made 61 appearances, including two in the Premier League this season.
Cranie can play at right-back or at the heart of the defence.
