Liam Roberts was born in Walsall and started his career with his hometown club.
His early career saw a series of loan moves, the most successful coming at Gresley Rovers, where they challenged for promotion from the Northern Premier League, and Chester, where he kept six consecutive clean sheets.
Liam made his Walsall debut against Millwall in February 2016.
He became the Saddlers first choice goalkeeper in 2017/18 and went on to make 149 appearances for his boyhood club.
He joined Northampton in the summer of 2021 and made 49 appearances in all competitions for the club.
He was named Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year for his performances in 2022.
Liam was the goalkeeping choice in the PFA League Two Team of the Year for 2021/22 after keeping an EFL-high 21 clean sheets.
Liam joined Boro in June 2022 after opting against signing a new contract at Northampton.
