Boro are back on the road to Leeds United on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) so here's a reminder of a great afternoon for the Teessiders at Elland Road back in January 2004.
Bolo Zenden was involved in and finished off a fine Boro move to give Steve McClaren's side the lead, then Gaizka Mendieta skimmed the post at the end of another free-flowing counter.
A smart dummy from Juninho set Joseph-Desire Job away to round keeper Paul Robinson for Boro's third.
And when Michael Ricketts broke free looking to add a third, Robinson felled the striker and was given his marching orders. Ricketts stepped up to dispatch the spot kick and wrap up a memorable Boro win.
It was a season of success for Boro, who lifted the Carling Cup the very next month, while cash-strapped Leeds were relegated from the top flight.
