The Middlesbrough Supporters Forum are asking generous supporters to donate food for the Middlesbrough Foodbank at Boro's home game against Brentford on Saturday (3pm).
'Fans Supporting Foodbanks' is now a national initiative, supported by the Trussel Trust, to combat poverty and hunger across the UK, providing three days of nutritionally balanced emergency food to local people who are referred in crisis.
The collection for Middlesbrough Foodbank was a huge success last season at our home game against QPR, and supporters can make their donations in the car park near the North West Corner of the Riverside between the Club Shop and the 12th Man Bar from 12noon.
Chris Joseph, chair of MSF, said: “Last season, fans donated 1.631kg of dry and non-perishable foods and £1,324.96 in cash donations. This year the need is as great as ever, and we are challenging our fans to outdo themselves.
"We are also appealing to Brentford’s travelling fans to make themselves busy “Bees” and try to make a contribution, too.
"Every little helps, and though we are of course delighted to receive bags of food, just one item from every fan from our 20,000+ Boro crowds would be a fantastic help and make a huge difference."
