The 20 year-old has signed a one year contract with a potential for a one year extension and follows the path of his grandfather John who was Town captain for many of his 12-years career with the West Yorkshire club.

John was also first team coach with Boro under John Neal, Bobby Murdoch and Willie Maddren, while his son Matthew, Luke's dad, was a goalkeeper with Boro's Reserves.

Luke, a former pupil of Nunthorpe School in Middlesbrough, has represented England at U17, U18 and U19 levels and was part of the England team that won the Algarve Tournament in summer 2012 and qualified for the UEFA U19 Championship elite qualifying group

He was with Boro from nine years old.
