Having travelled with the First Team to Portugal in pre-season last year, The left-sided attack-minded player was a fixture with Paul Stephenson’s Under-23s throughout the campaign.
The Gateshead-born 20-year-old was a left-back in the early part of his career, but more recently has been seen to good effect on the left side of midfield.
Capped at U17 level by England, Coulson was part of our U19 team that competed in the UEFA Youth League, playing games against Reims, Torino (twice), Dynamo Kiev and PSG.
He has continued to progress and as well as playing in the Checkatrade Trophy against senior teams, Hayden played in 18 of the 22 league games in PL2 last season, a season where we lost out on promotion only when beaten in the Play Off semi-finals.
