The midfield player, who turns 17 today, was a regular for our Under-18s last season, making 20 league appearances, netting three goals and playing a significant role in the run to the Premier League Cup Final for Mark Tinkler's side.

Redcar-born Hackney also played nine times for the Under-23s last year, and scored the winning goal in our Checkatrade Trophy victory over Burton Albion last season which was our first ever in the competition.

He joins Academy graduates Stephen Wearne and Nathan Dale in signing professional terms with Boro.
