Josh Coburn netted an early goal as a young Boro side drew 1-1 with National League North side Darlington on Sunday.
The young striker scored inside the opening few minutes when he seized quickly to capitalise after a Connor Malley shot had been parried.
The goal was just rewards for a fine display from Coburn, who was denied twice more by some good goalkeeping.
In the Boro goal, Sol Brynn was commanding and made a couple of good saves, but there was little he could do about the equaliser when Boro old boy Junior Mondal scored from close range with a shot that came down off the bar on the hour-mark.
Boro boss Neil Warnock was among the crowd at Blackwell Meadows.
The game was preceded by a minute's applause in memory of former Boro player Terry Cooper.
