Boro’s Under-23s lost out to the odd goal in five away to West Brom in the PL2 on Monday.

The Baggies had threatened to run away with it, with striker Reyes Cleary bagging a brace inside the first fifteen minutes at Telford United’s New Bucks Head ground.

But Boro, under the stewardship of assistant coach Paul Crager after the departure of Graeme Lee to Hartlepool United last week, rallied. Toyosi Olusanya got one back in first half stoppage time and Jack Stott - celebrating his 18th birthday - levelled things up midway through the second period.

It was Cleary who had the final say, though, completing a hat-trick and edging his side ahead in the final five minutes.
