Ian Bennett has joined the as the club’s new goalkeeping coach.
The former Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield United, and Huddersfield Town goalkeeper joins Kevin Blackwell, Ronnie Jepson, and Leo Percovich as part of Neil Warnock’s coaching staff.
“I’m delighted Ian has joined us,” said the boss. “Having worked with Ian before, I know him well and he’s a good lad. He has a lot of experience and enthusiasm and is a great addition for us.”
The 48-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having enjoyed a 25-year playing career that started as a youngster at QPR in 1988 and included spells in the Premier League with both Birmingham and Sheffield United.
Bennett made over 500 appearances, including over 350 during his 12 years with Birmingham.
His coaching career started with the Huddersfield Academy before switching to a similar role at Nottingham Forest. He made the step up at the City Ground to senior goalkeeping coach and worked alongside Aitor Karanka.
Bennett replaces Danny Coyne in the role. The club would like to thank Danny for his hard work and wish him all the best for the future.
