Boro star Adama Traore made his international debut for Spain Under-21s in their 5-3 victory against Northern Ireland in the Uefa Under-21s Championship 2019 qualifier.
Traore, who’s been in sparkling form for Boro, was introduced late on in the second half for Spain as they preserved their place at the top of the group.
Oyarzabal gave the away side the lead before Liam Donnelly despatched a penalty to make it 1-1 at the 30-minute mark.
Oyarzabal grabbed his and Spain’s second with half-time fast approaching, however Donnelly was there again to restore parity.
The second half followed a similar pattern when Mayoral nudged Spain back in front only for the home side to level it up again courtesy of Shayne Lavery.
However the visitors pulled away from Northern Ireland when Mayoral doubled his goal-scoring tally just before Traore was introduced and he went on to complete his hat-trick with 10 minutes left to wrap up the points.
Stephen Walker made it an international debut to remember, with his first-half brace for England Under-18s setting them on their way to a 4-0 win over Qatar at St George’s Park on Wednesday.
Walker opened the scoring after 11 minutes before notching his second just before the half hour for a 2-0 interval advantage.
Ian Poveda-Ocampo made it 3-0 in the 73rd minute and an own goal inside the last 10 minutes confirmed the win for Neil Dewsnip’s side.
Aynsley Pears was an unused substitute for England Under-20s on Thursday, who snatched the win late on over Poland through Keinan Davis.
