Boro’s international quartet are all set to start their first game of pre-season when Jonathan Woodgate’s side take on Gateshead on Wednesday (7.30pm).
Martin Braithwaite, Paddy McNair, Darren Randolph, and George Saville will all play against The Heed after missing the game against Grazer AK last week.
Jonny Howson, who missed the trip to Austria after he became a father for the third time, will also make his first pre-season appearance, along with Marcus Tavernier, who sat out the Grazer game with a slight injury.
“We’ve got a few players coming in who didn’t play in Austria,” said Woodgate.
“That game was too soon for the lads who had played international football, but they’ll all get minutes on the pitch at Gateshead.
“We’ll be looking to step things up slightly and get 60 minutes from some of the players this time.”
The game represents a return to Gateshead for striker Luke Armstrong, who netted 10 goals in 18 appearances for the club while on loan last season.
Gateshead were relegated to National League North during a turbulent summer, bringing to an end a 10-year stay in the top division of non-league football. Former Newcastle defender Mike Williamson is the manager at the International Stadium, and his side is likely to be a mix of new signings and trialists hoping to impress.
Fans can pay on the gate with adults £8, concessions £5, U16s £2, and U12s free of charge with a paying adult.
