Goalkeeper Liam Roberts is the club’s first signing of the summer.

The 27-year-old arrives on the back of a season that saw him clean up at Northampton Town’s end of season awards night, winning Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year.

Roberts has clocked up over 200 career appearances, more than a century of those coming at Walsall, the club where he started.

Joining Northampton at the start of last season and was named in the PFA League Two Team of the Year after notching up an EFL-high 21 clean sheets. He arrives at Boro on a two-year contract.

Fellow goalkeepers Joe Lumley and Zach Hemming have each moved away from Rockliffe for season-long loans at Reading and Kilmarnock.
