Stubbs, who's joined the Scottish Premiership side on a season-long loan, played the entire 90 minutes in the heart of defence as they notched their first points of the campaign.

Lewis Smith and George Oakley were on the scoresheet for the home side, who also kept a clean sheet, and the Accies were also reduced to ten men with 54 minutes played when Stubbs' defensive partner Brian Easton was dismissed.

Brad James and Tyrone O'Neill went head-to-head in midweek when Gateshead and Darlington faced off on Wednesday night.

The points were shared, though, in a 1-1 draw, with James between the posts for the Heed while O'Neill came off the bench in the latter stages of the first half.

Both youngsters were also in action at the weekend, with O'Neill getting 65 minutes under his belt for the Quakers in their 3-0 success against Kettering.

James also helped secure Gateshead another point in a stalemate against AFC Telford.

The young stopper produced a number of good saves in the second half on Saturday, earning him the man of the match award.

Other loanees Mitchell Curry and Enes Mahmutovic are on the sidelines with injury.
