Nathan Wood made his Crewe Alexandra debut as the League One side lost out late on to Swindon Town on Saturday.

Wood started at centre-half for the Cheshire club, who took an early lead through Tom Lowery.

The Boro youngster could do little about either Swindon goal, the first an own goal from right-back Travis Johnson and the second a rebound scored by Scott Twine deep into stoppage time.

Crewe had plenty of chances of their own to win it while Stephen Walker remained on the bench.

“It is about learning and building on from there," Wood told Crewe's official website.

"I’ve come to gain experience and play as many games as I can, but I also want to win. As soon as I came in, I could see that the club was an ambitious one and the ultimate aim is to get back into the Championship. If I could contribute to that then that would be great.

“I’ve settled in really well. Stephen Walker is here and he helps me a lot with the area but the staff are all good and it is a great bunch of lads. I am excited to be here and hopefully I can play a lot more games whilst I am here and help the team."

It was a successful week for Isaiah Jones, who was twice on the winning side with Queen of the South.

Wednesday night brought an away win at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, courtesy of a goal from Nortei Nortey, while Saturday saw another win on the road, 3-2 against Dundee.

The results move QoS up to fourth in the Scottish Championship.

Dejan Stojanovic was in goal for St Pauli, who made it four successive wins with a 3-2 victory over Darmstadt.

Lewis Wing started in midfield for Rotherham United, who were edged out by a Teemu Pukki goal against league leaders Norwich City.
