An internationally-acclaimed artist has urged the people of the region to look inside their hearts and find what is good about Teesside.
Mackenzie Thorpe was born in Middlesbrough; his work has been shown and hung all around the world. But he has never forgotten his roots.
Now he has joined forces with MFC Foundation in a competition to celebrate all that is good about Teesside. He is encouraging you to follow in his footsteps and create a piece of art that you think shows the best showcases the region.
“Look inside your heart, be proud of where you come from, let’s show the world how good a place Middlesbrough really is. Go for it!” is the message from the 64-year-old whose works have inspired many.
There’s no age limit and virtually no rules for the competition, launched on the Foundation’s website, as Mackenzie himself explains: “I want you to show the world how proud you are of Middlesbrough, of Teesside, the surrounding areas.
“You can make models, you can take photographs, you can use your computers. You can draw like I do using pastels, you can paint anything you want.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing what you produce, remember, anything goes. Any size, any shape.”
This competition is open to all ages and is open for just under a month.
The deadline is 5pm on Friday June 12. Send your work, or an image of it, via e-mail or upload a picture to social media, tagging @MFCFoundation and using the hashtag #loveofteesside.
