Boro youngster Marcus Tavernier has been included in England’s Under-19s squad for the upcoming Uefa European Championship.
Tavernier, who made eight senior appearances for Boro last season, scoring two goals, has been named in Paul Simpson’s squad as the Young Lions bid to retain the title in Finland.
The 19-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at MK Dons, featured in all three of England’s qualifying matches as they topped group 8 to progress to the elite round, where the Young Lions finished top of the pile in group 2 to secure their place in the tournament.
England have been placed in Group B and will begin the defence of their title against Turkey on Tuesday July 17.
The Young Lions will then face Ukraine four days later before taking on France in their final group game on Monday July 23.
